Actress Jessica Alba famous for roles in Spy Kids 4 and Little Fockers and her co-founder, launched The Honest Company in 2011, which has since become a great success. Alba’s business idea was to create a subscription e-commerce startup, which allows customers to sign up for different monthly bundles of their eco-friendly line of products for baby, family, and home, and also sells via small-scale partnerships with bricks-and-mortar retailers. Alba became passionate about the idea after she became a mother, and saw the need for a line of safe, convenient, eco-friendly products for babies and families. (She had an allergic reaction to a product while pregnant, which sparked her interest in offering safer alternatives.)
According to the Dow Jones VentureWire, the company has raised $70 million and is beginning partnership talks to expand to China. In 2014, the company had seen significant expansion, and said it plans to use the new funding to accelerate growth initiatives, including international expansion outside the U.S. Recent reports indicate the Honest Company is preparing to go public. Alba’s entrepreneurial efforts don’t stop with The Honest Company. She has also delved into the writing arena as she shares her story.
